A Contact page comes in two parts. The page holds your address, map and Mass times. The form is something you build separately under Forms, then put on the page.
1. Make the Contact page
Open Pages, press New page, type "Contact" as the Page name and choose Contact under What is this page for?. For a parish, the page comes with your contact details and map, your Mass times, and a Send us a message form section. The steps are in Making a page from a template.
2. Build the form
- Open Forms and press New form.
- It starts with three boxes: Your name, Email and Message, all required. That's enough for a contact form.
- Change the Form name, or add a short Description to show above the boxes.
- Press Add another box if you need more, such as a phone number. Each box has a label, a type and a Required tick.
- Under Notification email, type the address that should hear about each new message, such as the parish office. Separate several addresses with commas.
- Under Thank-you message, write what a visitor reads after sending.
- Press Save, then Publish.
A form that's saved but not published shows nothing to visitors.
3. Put the form on the page
Open your Contact page and click the form section. In its settings, Form picks which form to show. The first choice, The latest published form, is fine if you only have one. How it shows has two choices: Show the form here puts the boxes on the page, and Link to the form shows a button that opens the form on its own page.
If the section says your form is saved but not published, press the Publish it link beside the note. Then publish the page. See Publishing and drafts.
Read what people send
Open Forms, choose the form and press View submissions. New messages are marked unread. Use Mark read and Mark unread to keep track. If you set a notification email, a copy of each message goes there too, and replying to it writes back to the visitor.
Change or close a form
- To stop taking messages for a while, use Archive. The form closes and the messages you've had are kept. Take entries again reopens it.
- A form with no messages can go to the Trash. One with messages can only be archived. See Using the Trash.
- To take a form off the website without closing it, press Unpublish.
