Nothing is gone straight away
When you delete a page, a news article, a form or a photo, it goes to the Trash and stays there for 30 days. After that it's deleted for good, and the Trash shows the date.
Undo straight away
Right after you move something to the Trash, a message says Moved to Trash with an Undo button. You have about 30 seconds. Missed it? You can still bring the item back from the Trash.
Move a page to the Trash
- On the Pages screen, choose the page and use Move to Trash.
- In the editor, open More and choose Move to Trash.
The page's web address stops working at once, and any schedule waiting for that page is cancelled.
Your front page and the other built-in pages can't go to the Trash. They stay on the site, and you edit them in place.
Bring something back
- Open the Trash. The tabs along the top filter it by kind: pages, articles, forms, photos and so on.
- Tick the items you want, or use Choose all.
- Press Restore.
A restored page comes back at the same web address, and it's live again if it was live before. Other things, such as a form, come back under the same name. If something new has taken that name or address in the meantime, the item comes back as a draft with a new one, and the message tells you.
Delete for good
Delete for good removes the chosen items and can't be undone. Empty Trash clears everything, and asks you to type the word it shows before it goes ahead.
What never goes to the Trash
Signed sacramental records, money records and the audit log can't be deleted at all, so they never show here.
If the Trash buttons don't work
Nothing can change while a console is read-only, for example during a visitation, after a subscription lapses or while a new console waits for approval. The page says which one applies. Only people who can edit the website can restore its pages.
