These terms govern the EcclesiaOne marketplace, where vendors list goods and services and buyers find and contact them. The platform is operated by Orravo Web Technologies. These terms apply to both buyers and vendors and form part of the Terms of Service.
1.The role of the marketplace
The marketplace connects vendors with buyers within the EcclesiaOne community. A contract for any goods or services is between the vendor and the buyer. Orravo provides the marketplace software and, where the escrow feature is used, helps hold and release payment, but Orravo is not the seller of listed items and is not a party to the contract between vendor and buyer. The receiving institution and its diocese may verify vendors and moderate listings.
2.Vendor accounts and verification
To list on the marketplace, a vendor creates a vendor profile and may be asked to provide verification, which can include business registration (for example a CAC certificate), a tax identification number, proof of address, and a parish verification letter. A diocese or parish may grant a verification status (for example parish-verified or diocese-verified) and may endorse a vendor. Verification status can be revoked, and a vendor can be suspended for breach of these terms or of the Acceptable Use Policy.
Verification indicates that an institution carried out the checks it chose to carry out. It is not a guarantee by Orravo of a vendor's goods, services, conduct, or solvency.
3.Listings
Vendors are responsible for their listings, including descriptions, prices, photographs, and category. Listings must be accurate and lawful and must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. Vendors must not misdescribe goods or services or falsely claim that an item has been blessed or canonically approved. Listings are reviewed before publication and may be rejected, removed, or required to be changed.
4.Buyer responsibilities
Buyers should make their own checks before transacting. Treat verification and endorsement as helpful signals rather than guarantees. Communicate through the platform's inquiry tools where possible, so that there is a record if a dispute arises.
5.Payments and escrow
The marketplace includes an escrow facility, under which a buyer's payment is held and released to the vendor when the transaction is agreed to be complete, or refunded or split if a dispute is resolved that way.
Escrow is not switched on by default. It is available only where Orravo and the institution have specifically enabled it for that marketplace. The full terms that then apply, including who holds the funds and how and when a vendor is paid out, are given to the buyer and the vendor in writing at the time. Unless you have been given those terms, treat anything you arrange through the marketplace as a direct transaction between you and the vendor, settled between you, with the platform providing only the listing and the inquiry record.
Where escrow is enabled:
- A minimum transaction value of two thousand Naira applies.
- No platform fee is deducted from an escrow transaction at present. If we introduce one, we will publish it in these terms before it takes effect.
- The platform records the state of the transaction at each step: awaiting payment, held, released by the buyer, refunded by the vendor, in dispute, and the outcome of a dispute.
- Money is moved by the third-party payment processor, not by the platform's records. A release or a refund is initiated when the state changes, and how long it takes to reach an account is set by the processor and the parties' banks.
6.Disputes
If a buyer and vendor disagree about a transaction, either can open a dispute. A moderator (typically diocesan staff) reviews the statements and any messages and decides an outcome, which may release the escrow to the vendor, refund the buyer, or split it. The moderator's decision under this process is administrative and does not replace either party's legal rights.
7.Prohibited items and conduct
You must not list or sell anything unlawful, counterfeit, unsafe, or prohibited by the Acceptable Use Policy. You must not use the marketplace to defraud, to launder money, or to solicit funds under false pretences. Items presented as sacred or blessed must be described truthfully.
8.Reporting
Anyone can report a listing that appears to break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Reports are reviewed and may lead to removal of the listing or suspension of the vendor.
9.Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Orravo is not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of goods or services listed by vendors, for the truth of listings, or for the conduct of buyers or vendors. The disclaimers and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service apply to your use of the marketplace.
10.Tax and compliance
Vendors are responsible for their own tax, licensing, and regulatory obligations, including charging and remitting any taxes due on their sales.
11.Changes
We may update these terms. When we publish a new version, the version number and date on this page change.
