This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") sets the rules for how you may behave and what you may post on EcclesiaOne, operated by Orravo Web Technologies. It applies to everyone who uses the platform and forms part of the Terms of Service. It covers the forum and prayer wall, marketplace listings and messages, comments, profile content, and any other place where you can submit content or interact with others.
EcclesiaOne serves Catholic communities. Conduct on the platform should reflect respect for other members and for the mission of the institutions that use it.
1.Your responsibilities
You are responsible for everything you post and do under your account. You must keep your login secure and must not let others use your account. You must give accurate information and not impersonate another person, member of clergy, or institution.
2.Prohibited content and conduct
You must not post, upload, share, or transmit content, or use the platform, in any of the following ways. You must not:
- break any applicable law, or encourage others to do so;
- post content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that incites violence or discrimination against any person or group;
- post sexual content, or any content that sexualizes or endangers a child;
- bully, intimidate, stalk, or harass another member, or reveal another person's private information without their consent;
- post content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- post spam, chain messages, scams, fraudulent offers, or unsolicited advertising;
- misrepresent goods or services in the marketplace, or falsely claim that an item has been blessed or canonically approved;
- impersonate clergy or claim canonical authority you do not hold;
- post malware, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to data, accounts, or systems;
- interfere with, overload, or disrupt the platform or its security, including by scraping, automated access not permitted by us, or probing for vulnerabilities;
- attempt to view, copy, or extract records you are not authorized to access, including sacramental, pastoral, safeguarding, school, or financial records of others; or
- use the platform to misuse the religious or charitable trust of the community, including soliciting funds under false pretences.
3.Sensitive and pastoral spaces
Some areas of the platform, such as prayer intentions, confession bookings, and pastoral notes, are private or restricted. Respect the visibility level of every space. Do not republish another member's prayer request, confession, or pastoral information outside the space where it was shared. Pastoral and spiritual notes are confidential to the clergy who keep them.
4.Moderation
Clergy, designated staff, and platform moderators may review content and take action where this Policy is breached. Actions include hiding or removing content, locking or pinning a topic, issuing a strike, and suspending an account. A bishop or equivalent authority may direct the removal of content (a takedown), which may carry a canonical reference and may include a strike against the author.
Moderation decisions are recorded. A public transparency log may show that moderation action was taken, with the identities of the people involved removed from the public view.
5.Strikes and suspension
Strikes record breaches of this Policy. Strikes expire after a period. If you accumulate several active strikes within a rolling window, your account may be automatically suspended for a set period. Serious breaches can lead to immediate suspension or removal without prior strikes. Suspension prevents you from posting and may restrict other features.
6.Reporting and appeals
If you see content that breaks this Policy, report it using the in-app reporting tools. Reports are reviewed by moderators or clergy.
If your content is removed or your account is struck or suspended, you may appeal. Submit your appeal through the in-app appeals process. An appeal is reviewed by a moderator or authority who did not make the original decision where practicable, and the outcome (upheld, overturned, or dismissed) is recorded and communicated to you. The resolution of an appeal may itself appear in the transparency log.
7.Consequences
Breaching this Policy can lead to removal of content, strikes, suspension, or permanent loss of access, and, where conduct is unlawful or endangers others, to referral to your institution, to safeguarding authorities, or to law enforcement.
8.Changes
We may update this Policy. When we publish a new version, the version number and date on this page change. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
