The editor
Open a page from Pages and you see it as visitors will. A slim bar runs across the top: Back to Pages, the page name with its status, Undo and Redo, the screen size, Add, Layers, Preview, Publish and More.
Your work saves by itself. Next to the page name you'll see Saved, or Saving… for a moment after each change.
Change a section
Click a section to change it. Its settings open beside the page, with two tabs.
- Content has the words, photos and links. You can also click straight on the words in the page and type over them.
- Look has how the section sits on the page, such as its background and spacing.
Some sections fill themselves in from your site, like Mass times or your priests. If one has nothing to show yet, its settings tell you what to set up, with a link to do it.
Add a section
Press Add. Sections come in groups, such as Welcome, Text and pictures, Mass and sacraments, News and events, People, Giving, Forms and contact, and Photos and video. The search box finds them by church words, so "timetable" finds Mass times. The new section goes after the one you've selected, or at the end of the page.
Move, copy and hide
With a section selected, the buttons at the foot of its settings do the rest:
- Move up and Move down
- Duplicate
- Hide, which keeps the section but takes it off the live page. Show it brings it back.
- Save to my blocks, to use the section again on other pages
- Remove
Who sees this lets you show a section to everyone, to signed-in parishioners only, or to staff only. Under More you can set Show between dates, so a Christmas notice appears and disappears by itself.
Undo, preview and layers
Undo and Redo are in the bar, and More lists the keyboard shortcuts. Preview shows the page without the editing tools, and the screen-size buttons show how it looks on a computer, a tablet and a phone. Layers lists every section in order, which helps on a long page.
Nothing you do here is public until you publish. See Publishing and drafts.
