Your parish's groups are already in EcclesiaOne. Nobody makes them or adds people by hand: each one is filled from your records.
The groups you already have
- Parish staff: everyone with a staff role in your parish. The parish priest and the parish administrator moderate it.
- Societies, classes and ministries: each has a group of the people on its list. A society's leaders moderate its group.
When someone joins a list, they are in its group at once. When they leave the list, they leave the group.
Which WhatsApp groups to move now
Move a WhatsApp group when everyone in it works in the parish console, such as the staff group. Check Staff for anyone missing, and invite them as Inviting staff to your parish describes. They join the Parish staff group when they accept.
Start the new group
- Open Groups and societies, then Messages, and choose the group.
- Write a first message that includes @everyone. Each member sees it in Activity, under Mentions.
- Paste the message below into the old WhatsApp group.
Only a moderator can use @everyone, at most three times a day in each group.
The message for the old WhatsApp group
Put in your own date, then paste it into the WhatsApp group:
From [date], our staff group is in EcclesiaOne. Sign in to the parish console and open Activity: the first message is under Mentions. You can also find the group under Groups and societies, then Messages. Please write there from now on.
Messages to one or a few people
Direct messages, under Groups and societies, are conversations only the people in them can read: up to 8 people, all adults of the parish. The priests, the administrator, the parish secretary and the parish admin can write to any adult of the parish. Others can write to them, or to people they share a group with. On a person's record, Message starts one.
What each group tells you
Mentions, replies in your threads and direct messages wait for you in Activity.
In each group, the bell sets what you hear about: Every message, Mentions and replies, or Nothing. You can also mute a group for 1 hour or 12 hours.
People new to the parish
Someone who is not on your register yet can join with the parish join link or QR code. Open Online sign-ups: Download QR code gives the picture for a poster, and Open public form opens the link to share. When you approve someone, they are on your register, and you can add them to a society or ministry list.
