A shared block is one block that many pages show. Change it once, publish, and every page follows. Sometimes one page needs its own heading or photo, and you can allow that, one part at a time.
Keep a block the same everywhere
- On a page, click the section you want to reuse.
- Press Save to my blocks.
- Type a name and tick Keep it the same everywhere it is used.
- Press Save to my blocks.
Without the tick, each page gets its own copy and nothing is shared.
Choose what each page may change
- Open Pages, then the My blocks tab, and press Change it beside the block.
- Find What each page may change. It lists the parts of the block, such as a heading, a photo or a button link.
- Tick the parts pages may change for themselves. Unticked parts stay the same on every page.
- Press Save, then Publish.
The block's design always stays the same everywhere. If the block has nothing a page could change, the box says so.
Change a part on one page
Open a page that uses the block and click the section. Its settings say: "You can change these on this page. Everything else stays the same as the original." Only the parts you ticked are there.
Type your change. The part now says Changed on this page, with a Back to the original button. Press it and the page follows the shared block again.
When you later change the shared block and publish, every page keeps what it changed for itself. The parts a page didn't change follow the new words.
Other choices on the page
- Change it in My blocks opens the shared block.
- Make a copy for this page only turns the section into an ordinary section of its own, so it stops following the shared block.
- If you untick a part later, pages stop showing their own words for it. Their words are kept, and come back if you tick the part again.
Don't see My blocks? Your plan may not include advanced sections.
