The assistant finds things in your own records and explains how EcclesiaOne works. Ask it the way you'd ask a colleague in the office. It answers in a few lines and links to the page where you can see more.

Open it

  • Press Assistant in the top bar.
  • Press Ctrl and J together (Cmd and J on a Mac). Press them again to close it.
  • Open the search window with Ctrl and K (Cmd and K on a Mac), type your question and choose Ask the assistant.

Press Esc, or the close button at the top of the panel, to close it.

Start with a one-tap question

When the panel is empty, it offers four questions parish priests often ask. Tap one to send it.

  • What needs me this week?
  • Which Mass intention requests are still waiting?
  • Which sacrament records and certificates are waiting?
  • How did online giving go this month?

Brief me on this week

On the parish home page, beside Sacristy view, press Brief me on this week. It opens the assistant and asks "What needs me this week?" for you. You get a short list of what's waiting for you and what's coming up, each with a link.

Ask your own question

Type in the box and press Enter, or press Ask. Shift and Enter starts a new line. Keep it short, up to 500 characters. Stop ends an answer that's still coming.

It can:

  • find people, households, requests, events and classes by name
  • count your open requests and how old they are
  • count register entries and certificates waiting, without names
  • show your online giving by month and by fund, if your role may see giving
  • list Masses, Mass intentions (counted, never read out) and events for the days ahead
  • show the broadcasts you've sent or scheduled
  • tell you how to do something in EcclesiaOne, with a link to the page

It only shows what your own role may open. It never shows children's names, Confession, safeguarding details, or card and bank details.

What it won't do

It doesn't write letters, homilies, bulletins or announcements, and it doesn't translate or answer general questions. It never changes, sends, approves or deletes anything. Ask for those and it says so, and points you to the right page. When it doesn't know an answer, it says that too, and names the page that would show it.

Your monthly questions

The line at the bottom of the panel says how many questions are left this month. When most are used, a notice appears. When they're all used, the assistant waits until the 1st of next month, or you can press Buy 200 more questions. Nothing is charged automatically. You can ask 30 questions an hour.

Your questions and answers are kept for 90 days.

If you don't see the button

The assistant only shows where it's turned on for your parish. It's turned on from the Console assistant section of your Billing page, and some dioceses provide it to their parishes. A diocese console has its own assistant, with questions about parishes, returns and visitations.
