Who can add a parish
The bishop, and chancery staff with the same rights, can add a parish. A vicar who looks after only some deaneries can't, because a new parish isn't in any deanery yet.
Step one: add it
- Open Parishes and press Add parish.
- Type the Parish name. The City is optional.
- Press Add parish.
Until you appoint a parish priest, you can run the new parish yourself.
Step two: open the parish
What happens next depends on how your diocese pays. See Who pays for your parishes.
- Your diocese pays for every parish under one plan. The parish goes live as soon as you add it, and you land in its console.
- Parishes pay as they go live. You land on a page saying the parish is added and waiting to be activated. Until it's paid for, it has no public website and no console, and you can't appoint its priest.
On that page you can:
- Press Pay to activate and pay on the payment page.
- If your diocese has a card on file, choose Pay from the diocese card ending…. The parish goes live on the first payment, usually within 15 minutes.
- Press Add another parish and pay for them all later.
Anything you add to a waiting parish is kept.
Appoint the priest
You appoint the parish priest once the parish is live. A new parish starts without one on purpose, so nobody is named by guesswork.
If it's never paid for
Nothing bad happens. The parish waits, stays private and costs nothing.
