My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we begin the holy season of Lent, I ask every parish, every household and every one of you to return to the Lord with fasting, prayer and almsgiving.

This Lent I ask three things of the archdiocese:

1. Pray together as a family every evening, even for a few minutes.
2. Keep the Fridays of Lent as days of fasting for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
3. Give generously to the Lenten collection for the new chapel at St Joseph's Minor Seminary.

Let us walk this Lent together, so that we may rise with Christ at Easter.
